Volunteers Needed

Katrina's Angels is a non-profit organization that exists to support communities affected by disasters and is driven by the generosity of its volunteers. We need people willing to lend a hand as well as people willing to coordinate efforts. All positions are purely unpaid, voluntary positions. Will you help?

Our current needs include:

Fund Raising Director

Directs and manages the fund raising efforts of the organization. Reports to Program Director. Works with Fund Raising Angels to develop fund raising and sponsorship opportunities for the organization. Looks for ways to get our name out there, as well as ways to raise money online. Must familiarize yourself withthe needs of our organization. Knowledge and experience a plus. References a must.




Other Positions Available:

  • Community Angel - Individuals sought with computer experience, who can search the Internet, enter data, type e-mails and make phone calls. Make contacts with the community to provide resources for the web site, including announcements in the event of local disasters. May help in the event of local disasters by collecting in-kind donations locally and getting them to local disaster survivors in need. Report directly to the Community Coordinator or Resource Director, if there is no Community Coordinator locally available.
  • Community Coordinator - Coordinates and enhances efforts of Community Angel volunteers in a designated community. Works with Angels to identify helpful agencies and resources in their communities. Works with agencies and organizations to identify and communicate with survivors in their communities to match them with various opportunities from our partner organizations. Reports the needs of their community and updates results to the Resource Director.
  • Fund Raising Angels Needed Now! - Help Katrina's Angels, Inc. to help victims of flood, tornadoes, hurricanes and other disasters! Katrina's Angels really needs people who are dedicated self-starters that want to make a difference somewhere. You can help us with fund raising for Katrina's Angels. Help create awareness and fund raise so we can help more people, most of whom are uninsured, disabled or elderly. Experience with fundraisers helpful, but not necessary. Holding a local fund raiser for Katrina's Angels, Inc. would be great! We need funds to respond to the disaster facing the recent flood and tornado victims. Many are uninsured or under-insured and may be forgotten. Requirements: Good working knowledge of computers necessary. Ability to work well with people. Katrina's Angels does most of their work online, going on-site when necessary. We work with groups on the ground, helping them to fulfill clients needs. Please fill our our form below!   • Grant Writer Angel - Grant-writing priorities include funding for a warehouse including office space and an area for volunteers, salaries for currently unpaid staff members. Experience in grant writing, especially in the non-profit sector. Must be highly motivated, organized and enthusiastic about our mission.
  • Media Angels Urgently Needed! - As a Media Angel, you will help develop and implement the Media Plan for the organization. Specific duties may include: · Writing press releases and other articles for submission to news organizations. · Spreading the word about our work by developing text for the web site, clarifying links, and writing blogs and emails. · Developing fliers, posters, and other material used to fundraise and to advertise our services. · Assisting development of small media campaigns with the Media Director and other Media Angels. · Creating postings for various forums and on-line ads. · Researching news on local disasters. · Creating and sending press packets to different contacts in the media. · Posting headline links to our main web page. Great experience for your resume! Unpaid Volunteer Positions available only. Requirements: · Self starter with the ability to work · Ability to show creativity and share ideas with others · Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Word required. We are especially interested in hearing from you if you have the following: · Experience in marketing, media, advertising, communications, and/or PR · Graphic design experience and access to design software such as Adobe Photoshop If necessary, training will be provided on a one-to-one basis. Access to high speed internet and unlimited long distance would be helpful since you will need to communicate with other volunteers and send work electronically.   • Resource Angel - Finds or develops resources for a designated community (such as food, clothing, utilities), entering those resource listings if not our state-sorted resource library on the Angels In Action forum. Checks the phone book and the internet and lists places like the local Lions Clubs, food pantries, church closets, local thrift stores by you, and other resources. Reports directly to the Resource Director.
  • Resource Partner - An organization that would like to partner with our network of volunteers and organizations.
  • Technology Angels Urgently Needed! - People providing web and technical expertise to support the functions of our web site. Requires web development experience, ASP, Microsoft Access, SQL experience preferred. Eventually we will change to MySQL from our current Microsoft Access MDB back end. Need long term commitment of six months to a year.
