Katrina's Angels Needs Help
9/12/2007 - Anywhere, International - Katrina's Angels is currently in need of volunteers and funds to aid in any upcoming natural disaster. All of our volunteers are virtual volunteers, meaning we are all connected by the internet and do much of our work online and by telephone. We are located throughout the United States. There may be times when we go on site for various work events, such as the Thanksgiving Dinner for 500 last November in Moss Point, MS (See photos at http://ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/KatrinasAngelsinActionForum/photos/browse/f3c3)
and Christmas in Prairieville, LA arranged by a Community Angel (See photos at: http://ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/KatrinasAngelsinActionForum/photos/browse/97c2
We love having Community Angels willing to accept and collect and distribute gift cards and items to those in need. However, for on site work in addition to this, we do have partners we can refer volunteers to on the ground in some disaster areas when they occur.
Katrina's Angels (www.katrinasangels.org) has issued a new mission statement and wants everyone to know about our resource library located at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/KatrinasAngelsinActionForum/files/.
As of August, Katrina's Angels is now incorporated in the State of New York, and will be known as Katrina's Angels, Inc. We have applied for our own separate 501(c)3 designation as we have always wanted to be separate from our parent group, ATAYAL. The incorporation was necessary to apply for our own non-profit EIN designation, and New York was chosen as that is where our Financial Director is located. (As you know, our virtual volunteers are located all over the US.)
Mission Statement: Katrina’s Angels exists to support communities affected by disasters by offering solutions to unmet needs and enhancing the recovery process through resource pooling and information sharing.
